Go for the bagels. Seriously. With six locations in the city, you’re bound to be near one to experience their bagels after they’re made in-house. (Check the website for all location addresses.)

Nordstrom Rack on Newbury Street isn’t the only place to find designer digs for less. A short ride on the Orange Line will take you to Assembly Row, a wonderful area packed with a movie theater, restaurants, and shops – most of them being outlets like Sak’s, Kenneth Cole, Lucky Brand, and more.

Who knew there was a three-story stained glass globe in the city? Probably not you. Get inside it (literally) at the Mark Baker Eddy Library.

Get your bread where the North End eateries get theirs. You probably wouldn’t look twice, but a narrow walkway nestled between two restaurants on Hanover Street leads to a staircase down to a huge selection of freshly baked breads. You’ll face a decision between multiple types of Ciabatta and Baguette loaves, among other selections.

A Cantonese place so legit, it’s underground and you need to ask for a fork. The food is amazing and it’s open ’til 3am, making for a perfect last stop after the clubs on weekends.

Some hostels have a rep of being grimy and outdated – not this one. HI Boston is chic and right downtown. (Free wi-fi and breakfast are also selling points.)

Right over the river lies a tiny lounge that, as many say, feels like a Berlin techno club on the appropriate night. (Your best bet for that is a Thursday, and occasionally a Tuesday.) This spot boasts a lax vibe, cool people, and good music.
